Q: What is a theatre maker?

Someone who is involved in the creation of theatre! It's a term used to describe someone who is involved in one or more of the different roles that there are in making theatre. For example performer, stage manager, playwright, etc.

Q: Who is theatre makers for?

Everyone aged 18+ in Mparntwe/Alice Springs interested in theatre and performance! Anyone who wants to develop their skills, confidence, and collaborate with other artists in a meaningful and supportive environment.

Q: Do I need to bring anything to the workshops?

Participants will need to bring a creative idea that they want to explore, as well as comfortable clothing and water to each session. A laptop is also required for one of the workshops. Please let us know via the application form if you will need a laptop provided.

Q: What if I don't have a concept to develop yet?

That's OK - use the application form to share some of your ideas, it's fine if they change later during the program. If you're completely stuck, tell us about an artist, person or an experience that inspires you and why.

Q: What if I have access needs?

If you have any access requirements, please get in touch with us either via the application form or info@theatremakersnt.com. You can also request an accessible version of the application process.

Q: Can I bring my child to the workshops?

We understand that finding someone to look after your children might not be possible and present a barrier to attending the workshop. If you need to bring your child to some of the workshops, please let us know in the application form. Please include their age and anything that would help you access the program as a parent. Each facilitator will be contacted to make sure their workshop space is appropriate for your needs. Some workshops may not be suitable as Theatre Makers is an 18+ environment.

Q: I can’t make it to the workshops/showcase, can I still get involved?

We ask that everyone who applies to the program can commit to attending a minimum of 4 workshops, the showcase and the rehearsals. This requirement is to make sure we build good relationships, trust, and deepen the already existing skills across our community. If you are very keen to be involved but can't make this requirement, please still submit a form and indicate your availability - there may still be options to get involved!

Q: I have a different question!

Email us at info@theatremakersnt.com and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
