Welcome to our 2024 program!
Theatre Makers is a space for 12 participants to develop new skills, connections and original pieces of performance.
There is a call-out, and we ask applicants to tell us a few details about themselves and a creative idea they want to explore. We aim to keep the application process simple. You can send us your application via phone recording, video, phone call, email etc.
This experience is open to anyone in the community who is interested in performance!
You don’t have to be an experienced artist to apply. We are particularly keen to hear from people who have not had access to traditional theatre or arts opportunities.
With the support of Incite Arts, we can support artists with disability throughout the program.
12 places will be offered to applicants who:
Can attend the key program dates
Live in Mparntwe/Alice Springs
Tell us about their artistic background and inspiration to apply
Explain a creative concept that they want to develop
Express interest in being part of a collaborative experience
Priority will be given to new applicants, but previous Theatre Makers are more than welcome to apply!
From 1 Sept - 9 Nov 2024, weekly workshops provide a journey of skills development in theatre and performance. Participants receive 1:1 mentorship from facilitators of their choice.
Everyone develops an original concept and rehearses their piece. We then put on a work in progress performance night, complete with lights, sound, sets, props and costumes!
The 2024 workshop program introduces a whole range of theatre skills, including:
Introduction to contemporary theatre making
Developing accessible performance with Madeleine Little (Undercover Arts)
Dramaturgy with Dani Powell
Directing with Kirryn Wilkinson
Movement and Physicality with Miriam Nicholls (Dusty Feet Dance)
Devising two-day intensive with Gail Evans
Prop and costume design with Franca Barraclough
Lighting and projection design
